My "Perricone MD" Skincare Regimen

*My Perricone M.D. Skincare Regimen*
Skincare is a top priority for me as it should be for everyone who wishes to look their best (especially as you get older). Following a specific step by step method by Dr. Perricone M.D., in attempts to defy any and all signs of aging, is my sort of "skincare prescription" which has in a sense become ritualistic in a sense. Using occasionally however, as it is "in addition to", not "in place of" other products, because I do use several other different amazing skincare products. The fact that i do not have perfect skin; and never have means I need to work that much harder to keep my skin "on point" - which means having to keep up with my skincare regimen consistently.
So what exactly is my skincare regimen?
Well- first lets get down to basics..
Q: What is Perricone MD?
A: Perricone M.D Cosmeceuticals carries a full line of amazing skincare products created by Dr. Perricone himself that includes (but not limited to) the following:
- Facial Cleansers/Exfoliators
- Body Lotions
- Anti-Aging Products
and so much more!
My specific (personalized) Perricone M.D skincare regimen consists of the following (in order)
- "Gentle Cleanser"
- "Intensive Pore Minimizer" (toner)
- "Cold Plasma Body" (body lotion)
- "Cold Plasma Eye" (eye cream)
"Hypo-Allergenic Gentle Cleanser"
First, I begin with their hypo-allergenic "Gentle Cleanser" (shown above).
This gel cleanser removes makeup, and dirt without removing your skins' natural oils attributed to "Dr. Perricone's formulated and patented Olive Polyphenols".
(*Fun Fact: Polyphenols are a combination of monounsaturated fats and anti-oxidants found in extra virgin olive oil (a "superfood"), containing many health benefits including fighting against heart disease, high blood pressure and cholesterol, as well as being aid for certain cancers; it is even thought to act as an anti-inflammatory! In addition, polyphenols are phyto-chemicals that plants actually produce this compound in order to protect themselves!)*
Thus leaving my skin feeling soft, clean and refreshed.
This is a great gel cleanser for people with sensitive skin since it is fragrance-free, and does not contain any harsh chemicals.
I do not however use this daily, since I switch up my cleansers from time to time that benefit different skin problems, and also to try new products that are constantly coming out. (I will have another post later discussing some of my other favorite facial cleansers along with my own personal tips on proper ways to wash your face).
I love how fresh my skin feels after using this cleanser, and its safe to say it is one of my fav's!
**Beauty Tip: Remember when washing your face.. you should always start out with warm water in order to open your pores and thoroughly clean your skin; ending with cold water to close up your pores, preventing dirt and grime from entering, and to also reduce inflammation!.**
Which is now brings us to Step 2 of my Perricone MD skincare regimen... -
"Intensive Pore Minimizer"
The "Intensive Pore Minimizer" by Perricone MD is a *MUST-HAVE* for anyone who suffers from enlarged pores;
which admittedly, is exactly where my skincare struggles come into play. As mentioned earlier, I do not by any means have perfect skin, but certainly do make a valiant effort to combat my skin troubles.
Unfortunately, for as long as I can remember I have been plagued by large pores due to my acne-stricken days of puberty. SIGH.
Fast forward to present-day and I have been left with enlarged pores. BIGGER SIGH.
Well, this product has been a life-saver; an AMAZING lightweight liquid toner (working also as an exfoliant) while reducing and minimizing the look and appearance of large unsightly pores.
Yet, thankfully to the makers of this toner (Dr. Perricone), it has improved and reduced the appearance of my pores greatly!!
It also reduces the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines - knocking out two birds with one stone!
Now, like I said, I do not use the "gentle cleanser" daily with the pore minimizer (as recommended),
however, this toner I do use daily (morning and night) with a small round cotton pad.
The results have just been A M A Z I N G !
The instructional booklet provided claims that using the toner followed by the cleanser in combination will provide maximum results with improving the appearance of your pores.
(Unfortunately, scientific studies have claimed there is no real way to actually "shrink" enlarged pores. Leaving you only with attempts to minimize their appearance.)
In my opinion, it has worked and it is the ONLY toner i use; and I SWEAR BY IT!
I cannot express enough how much i LOVE this product!
*Katty's Kloset Approved*
Also as instructed; i shake the bottle before each application and generously apply all over my face, neck and décolletage.
BUT, i do NOT end there!..
Which now brings me to my next step..
"Cold Plasma Body"
Once I am finished applying the "Intensive Pore Minimizer", i proceed on to the moisturizing aspect of my Perricone MD skincare regimen using the "Cold Plasma Body" lotion.
Please note- this lotion is intended for your body; (however I use this lotion over their actual face cream) not only on my body, but on my face as well for all its many benefits as follow:
- Anti-aging properties
- Helps the appearance of wrinkled, loose skin
- Tightens, firms, and tones skin - of ALL SKIN TYPES !
- Reduces the appearance of stretch marks
This is another product that I do not use on a daily basis, but i do use this regularly and I have seen a great improvement in my stretch marks around my hips and thighs, and has kept the skin on my face firm. (As you age, you tend to lose elasticity leading to sagging - total UGH!)
I have mentioned some of the many pro's of this product; now it is time to mention one of the con's:
- the scent is TERRIBLE (in my opinion at least) it reminds me of a fishy scent; similar to that of fish oil vitamins ( i will have another post later on talking all about the benefits of fish oil vitamins and other ways you can use the vitamins to benefit your body)
Cold Plasma is known to having so many great benefits so i decided to apply this "body" lotion on my face as well and the results were.. well.. outstanding!
and a GREAT recommendation!
Another key aspect in skincare is all about how we care for our eyes ( which is one of the most delicate area's of our faces; if not, THE MOST delicate area! ) .. which will now lead me to "Step 4" of my skincare regimen..
"Cold Plasma Eye"
The Cold Plasma Eye Cream is a great eye cream just because Cold Plasma is beneficial in so many ways.
To be honest, it is actually NOT my favorite eye cream of theirs because it does suit me personally.
My struggles deal more directly with puffiness; while this product concentrates more on fine lines; wrinkles; and dark under-eye circles.
I have tried the High Potency Eye Lift cream in the past, which aimed more at my problem areas.
The combination of the two creams however can achieve a youthful, well-rested and supple looking eyes.
